PD Ports is an award winning UK ports business offering end to end supply chain solutions.
Access onto ISO Tanks in a busy port is full of risk.
The transition to the tank top is the most dangerous place and the ISO TRAM unit give 100% safety through its unique anchorage system, while giving full versatility as the port can move the system from one tank to another.
The ISO TRAM unit manufactured for PD Ports is special in that it will allow access to all varieties of ISO Tank, whether a standard size or a Swap Body Tank. The overhang on the frame which can be seen in the photos allows the ISO TRAM frame to pass the end of the Swap Body Tank.
The inclusion of a walkway and retractable ladder ensures complete and 100% safety from the ground up.
Veolia in Australia were very impressed with the advantages offered by the T-Line for their application,
The T-Line could be mounted to the sloping roof, without the need for any additional steel work, thus keeping the railing system free for their maintenance equipment etc.
The T-Line offered continuous protection for the workers, from the time that they stepped off the platform walkway and onto the tanker itself and then even into the confined space (tank) if necessary.
The lifelines for the T-Line were easily looped around the services below the roof and the user is free to work beneath without the possibility of the lifelines snagging on the pipes etc.
There is no swing fall for the user, no matter where they were to fall from along the length of the tanker.
The T-Line unit could be mounted behind the handrail, with additional pulleys to raise the height of the lifelines. This ensured that the winch mechanism is within easy reach for anyone to effect a rescue from behind the safety of the hand rail. If a person falls whilst working on top of the tanker, they can simply winch them back to within reach of the handrail and pull them back to safety.
If there is an issue whilst someone is working inside the tank itself, someone can operate the winch to extract them from the confined space, whilst the other person stands above the entry point to help guide them out. If the person is unconscious, they can be transported back to the walkway using the T-Line winch or lowered to the ground using a separate personnel winch.
The T-Line has extremely short activation distances, so much so that if a worker trips whilst walking on top of the tank, the T-Line catches them before they hit the top of the tank.
Based across the EU SAICA Paper is one of the leaders in the manufacturing of paper for corrugated cardboard.
Access to the top of delivery tankers has been a problem on their Carrington site in Manchester, UK. Provision of XL T-Lines has provided the drivers and on-site staff with fall protection where traditional solutions did not provide 100% safety.
The open air bays provided a unique challenge and to over come this a post was installed to allow the T-Line to be installed at the correct height.
The long span and short arrest distance allows the system to cover the entire truck length making the job of the driver easier when positioning the vehicle, plus ensuring that the worker is provided with 100% safety from the ground up.
Based on several sites in the UK Hutchinsons Technical Services Ltd offer a full range of maintenance and repair services for tank containers and ISO Tanks.
Access during these sessions is inherently dangerous and the T-Line offered the perfect solution, with the versatility of the unit meaning they can move the T-Line to suit where the tanks are positioned.
Within their Runcorn depot the tanks are moved into different positions and this creates a major issue when designing a safety system to allow fall protection on the tank top.
The T-Line allows the company to position the safety system in whichever orientation and location they need to provide 100% safety for their workers for the duration of their work.
